I cant believe I missed this grand opening!! I think it was for the best though since I am low carbing…Anywoo, Carlos Santana was in Austin Monday to open his 4th franchise restaurant — Maria Maria La Cantina Austin. This is not for the people with light pocketbooks - entrees range from $15-$22 -click here to check out the menu.

“We’re really passionate about teaching Mexican-Americans who grew up in here what real Mexican food is about,” Santana said.

“Austin as a city has grown by 8 percent over the last two years and that alone, I think, is going to drive more restaurants to open,” said Laura Kelso, food and restaurant critic, who tracks trends in dining for Austin Monthly magazine. She says Santana’s new venture will have to offer more than his celebrity ownership to succeed.

“I know that Maria, Maria’s ambiance is spectacular and I think that’s going to be a draw but ultimately it’s going to be, ‘What am I getting on this plate?’” said Kelso. [SOURCE]

Other Maria Maria restaurants can be found in Tempe AZ; Walnut Creek CA; Mill Valley CA. There are plans to open more restaurants including one in Houston, Boca Raton (FL) and in Las Vegas.

McCain’s campaign adviser (we know its you Karl Rove!!) planned for him to pick Palin as VP so he could take some of the people who just cant seem to grasp the idea of a black man for president. It was actually a brilliant strategy. Pick someone who is considered a maverick but conservative, understands the middle class woes, and Angelican.

We all know Alaska is an oil rich state and Palin has no problem ordering extra pipes so she can drain all the oil for our consumption.

Gary Dourdan was spotted with a bikini-clad young lady on the island of Ibiza in the Mediterranean Sea. Dourdan, who played Warrick Brown on CSI, showed off his goodies by squeezing into a teeny weeny green speedo. What happened to him? Angelina Jolie may have Brad Pitt and host of kids, but Jennifer Aniston has more money. According to Forbes, the 39-year-old actress earned more than Angelina Jolie in 2007.

Aniston raked in $27 million in 2007; Jolie, 33 - who just welcomed twins with Pitt – took in $14 million.

The top female moneymaker award goes to Cameron Diaz with $50 million. Keira Knightley pulled in $32 million, beating out Aniston. Academy Award winners Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow each banked $25 million.

Former DTP recording artist Bobby Valentino recently announced that he has signed a deal with EMI to launch his own label, Blu Kolla Dreams. He landed this deal just three months after being dropped with Def Jam and splitting from Disturbing the Peace. Through this new deal, Bobby V. will

release his new LP, The Rebirth.

“I have been blessed to be in the music industry for over 10 years, and my past endeavors have been great learning experiences,” he said. “Now I have the opportunity to step out on faith and use the knowledge and experience that I have gained to take my career to the next level.”

Congrats are definitely in order for you, Bobby. If you need a receptionist, get at me!
