As I was sorting through mail the other day,I came across The Hooah! – the National Guards magazine. On the cover featured Chrisette Michele. I was a little intrigued by her being on the cover. So with permission from my nephew (after all it was his magazine and I didn’t want to open his mail and be triflin’), I went straight to her feature story. Chrisette Michele dishes on the inspiration behind her music, working with fellow label mates Nas and Jay-Z, and what being a patriot means.
On the inspiration behind her music:
“I get my inspiration from people. I love to have conversations with people, find out about their lives, steal it and put it in a song.”
On working with Nas and Jay-Z:
“It was really exciting. They are definitely two of the greatest rappers to have ever lived. Being able to write with such great writers and being in the same room with them was amazing.”
On what being a patriot means:
“I think a patriot is someone who pays attention to what’s going on, supports what they can and makes a difference.”

Nas and Kelis have been together for awhile now. They have recorded songs together with mixed reviews, with the exception of Kelis’ “Blindfold Me.” Now they are planning something else. The duo is collaborating on an entire album.
“Me and my wife was thinking about doing this record together.” [READ MORE]
Don’t expect it a single just yet. Nas has to focus on his current album, Untitled. I am sure the Nas/Kelis album will be very thought-provoking and unique–with instrumentals that will have you bobbing your head or shaking your head in disbelief. I am sure the cover is going to be HAWT–they sure do know how to work a camera.
I spotted this video on Miss Info’s blog and I am just as appalled and outrage as her! Nas is a creative and controversial artist. As Chuck pointed out “we do not know what his creative license is for his proposed album title.”
I am going to get off of my soapbox for a minute (BP is sky high right now). Watch this video and let me know your thoughts??
